Neurodegeneration and Neuroimmunology
Neurodegenerative and Neuroimmunological Imaging in Neuroradiology
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a central role in the early diagnosis and the clinical management of neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system. Our clinic offers modern multiparametric MRI examinations and we place great importance on the standardization of image acquisition parameters and reports.
One of our focus areas are changes in brain structure, such as atrophy patterns in neurodegenerative dementia syndromes (e.g. Alzheimer's disease) or in inflammatory diseases (e.g. multiple sclerosis). These processes are monitored using for example semi-automated volumetric analyses. Moreover, we constantly develop and refine structural and functional imaging techniques (e.g. MRI/PET, DTI, fMRI), in close collaboration with the Clinics of Nuclear Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Regenerative Medicine at the USZ.
