The Department of Neuroradiology conducts mainly clinical research. Our research projects focus on the clinical and methodological areas listed below.
| We closely collaborate with partners within USZ/UZH/ETH and other national and international institutions. Moreover, we develop MR techniques for our cooperation partners and provide them with existing methods.
|
Clinical Focus
| - Neurooncological imaging with evaluation of morphological data (MRI, CT)
- State-of-the-art procedures, e.g. diffusion, perfusion, functional imaging, quantitative semi- and fully automated analyses, artificial intelligence
- Software / hardware development

|
| - Pre- and postinterventional MRI imaging for treatment planning and monitoring treatment outcome
- Improving mechanical thrombectomy in acute stroke
- Cerebral aneurysms
- Cerebral vascular malformations

|
| - Detection of early functional and structural changes in neurodegenerative diseases
- Disease progression in multiple sclerosis
- Standardized, multiparametric MRI:
- Quantitative functional analysis (ASL MR-perfusion, MR-spectroscopy, fMRI)
- Structural analysis of grey and white matter (high resolution 3D T1/T2, DTI, morphometry, segmentation)

Technical Focus
| - Multimodal Imaging after a stroke or tumor and in neurodegeneration
- Analysis of spinal cord morphology and function in paraplegic patients
- High-resolution MRI and tractography to explore the architecture of the brain and its influence on the diagnosis of brain pathologies.
- Multimodal Imaging (fMRI, EEG-fMRI, ASL, DTI, MR spectroscopy, QSM, high-resolution T1/T2-weighted imaging, iVASO-MRI, BBB, real-time fMRI neurofeedback) in basic research
- Neurostimulation using tDCS
